After a whirlwind of events in March to mark 10 years of broadcasting from BCfm Radio, the station is just about to take a breath before zooming full steam ahead into its next big do.
Award winning charity BCfm has certainly made it’s mark in the city priding itself as the most diverse radio station representing every Protected Characteristic. It marked the end of 10 planned events ranging from Outside Broadcasts at The Bristol Jazz and Blues Festival, to a live 24 hour radiothon broadcasting through the night and a media soccer tournament. It also marked the start of the inaugural Bristol Diversity Awards which were testimony of the stations ethos as 5 prestigious awards were handed out during the stations main celebration party attended by a 250 strong mix of dignitaries, volunteer broadcasters, engineers and supporters.
Life time achievers award went to Dr Paul Stephenson OBE who silenced the room with his words as the entire audience rose to their feet in honor of the Race Relations Campaigner.

Individual Contribution Award went to Daryn Carter – Organiser and curator of Bristol’s Pride Festival.
Best Diverse Business Award went to Sweet Mart – Continental food retail and community asset for over 40 years.
Special Recognition Award went to Nick Ballard from Acorn – Campaigners for fair rent and justice for tenants.
Diverse Community Organisation went to Up Our Street – Community magazine and neighborhood alliance.
In Deputy Mayor Asher Craig’s address, she described BCFM as being ‘The heart beat of the city’.

The BCfm Bristol Diversity Awards is to become an annual event with the 2018 full ceremony handing out no fewer than 25 awards on 24th March 2018 nominated by the public.
The next fund raising event will be a black tie affair and is planned for August 19th at the Marriott Hotel Broad mead.
The station which receives no core funding aims to raise £10,000 during it’s anniversary year to help sustain it. Anyone wishing to donate is urged to go straight to the Just Giving page found on the BCfm website.
