NEW BCFM ORAL HISTORY TRAINING WORKSHOP

BCfm is offering a free, fun and practical introduction to oral history in partnership with UWE Bristol and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

You will learn through teaching and group activities how to conduct your own interviews using voice recorders and smartphones.

 

Training Workshop Structure

- What is oral history?

- Understanding memory

- Recording equipment and apps

- Interview do's and don'ts

- Practice interviews

 

Tea/Coffee/Water and Lunch will be provided.

BCFM RECOGNISED IN NATIONAL COMMUNITY AWARDS

BCfm Radio has been recognised at the 2021 Community Radio Awards.

 

A Gold Award for Innovation of the Year and Bronze Award for Podcast of the Year was presented for our local oral history podcast 12 Communities One Bristol, which was the culmination of an intensive judging process to recognise those producing great quality content and engaging with their communities.

 

The awards ceremony was held in Coventry, as part of the UK City of Culture celebrations.

What is Unlocking Our Sound Heritage?

Unlocking Our Sound Heritage (UOSH) is a national project aiming to preserve and provide access to half a million of the nation’s rare and unique sound recordings.

‘Bristol’s Finest’ is the theme as BCfm opens its doors to aspiring radio presenters, newsreaders and podcasters, as well as local musicians, singers, personalities, comedians, poets and more.

 

The BCfm Open Day (Bank Holiday Monday 30thAugust, 10am to 4pm) is an opportunity for local talent and the general public to visit the studios and get on the airwaves, also to meet the team, grab some food and hear about the wide range of opportunities.

Bristol's Community Radio stations are going digital, and bringing many more new digital radio stations to Bristol and South Gloucestershire with them.
